Step 2 Projects - Currently serving over 100 children

What is a Step 2 Project?
Eagle Condor Humanitarian is committed to implementing long term solutions for children, families and communities. We do this by working directly with children and/or training heads of family to become more self-sustaining so children can stay in school enabling them to gain access to better jobs and futures. Step 2 projects are able to focus on education and community development. Step 2 projects all utilize one or more elements:

  • Discover social identity and self-worth
  • Educational Opportunities
  • One-on-one interns
  • School Enhancement - Literacy Centers, Computer Labs, etc...
  • Community Development - Greenhouses, Bathrooms, etc....

Current Step 2 Projects:
x Project: Huata - Sacred Valley, Peru:
This small village, comprised of about 1000 people (about 200 children) and located high in the Andean Mountains, desperately needs help with their two small schools, an elementary and a preschool. They are solely responsible for the education of their children. Electricity has now been wired for each school, bathrooms have been built for the elementary school and a new roof has been constructed. Electricity has given the schools programing for educational shows and the ability to use the school as a community center at night. Finishing the bathroom for the elementary school has given the children a sanitary place to clean, and the ability to function more effectively at school and the roof provides a shelter for the extreme conditions. Our next step is to help update the library and provide interns to help teachers and children learn English.

x Project: Salkantay School - Cusco, Peru:
  • Salkantay School:
ECH is supporting the Salkantay School by providing 2 teachers, materials and educational supervision. Salkantay is located 10 km from Cuzco in the hills above Sacsaywaman.
x Project: Libraries in Peru:
  • Libraries:
Book Donations: Condor Humanitarian will help develop and support libraries in schools in Chiclayo, Piura and Cuzco. Volunteers will help raise the money for book donations and develop a plan to help the school staff enhance their school libraries. We also receive book donations from the Deyhle Foundation.
